Analyst Notes
[Analyst View] — Aamara Capital, 17 Oct 2026
What happened. In seven months Stove Kraft went from "cheap and hated" to "re-rated on one category". The stock bottomed at ₹446 in Mar–Apr 2026, after a Q3 FY26 in which revenue fell 6.4% and PAT fell 65–67%, and now trades at ₹851 (+~90%). The trigger was external: the Iran–US/Israel war disrupted the Strait of Hormuz from late Feb 2026, India's LPG cylinders ran short, and induction cooktops sold out. Stove Kraft's induction sales rose 89% in Q4 FY26 and 316% in Q1 FY27, and Q1 FY27 was a record quarter (revenue ₹480.6 Cr, +41.3%; PAT ₹17.1 Cr, +63.5%).
Strip the windfall out and the core business looks like it did before. Excluding induction, Q1 revenue grew about 13.6%. Small appliances fell 2.2% and gas cooktops 6.9%. TTK Prestige (+34%) and Hawkins (+33%) grew almost as fast, so this was a category pulse, not share gain. Reported EBITDA includes a ₹4.9 Cr expected-credit-loss write-back. Before it, margin was 10.2% vs 10.7% a year ago, down ~50 bp, and PAT grew ~22%, not 63.5%. Gross margin (+127 bp to 39.6%) is real, but other expenses rose 3.2 pts of sales to ~17.8% (job work, marketing, franchise commissions, front-loaded CSR).
The balance-sheet repair is real but smaller than "net debt zero". Bank debt fell from ₹179.5 Cr to ₹2.4 Cr. But about ₹116 Cr of that was refinanced through an ₹84.8 Cr sale-and-leaseback (SLB) and +₹31.5 Cr of supplier credit, and factoring rose ₹12.8 Cr. Our like-for-like debt-like total is ~₹193 Cr gross / ~₹163 Cr net (≈1.0–1.2x EBITDA), against the company's ₹27.1 Cr. FY26 operating cash flow of ₹257.7 Cr came with a ₹119 Cr working-capital release (payable days 107→133). Underlying cash generation is about ₹150 Cr a year. Q1 FY27 already gave some back: working-capital days went from 23 to 45.
The structural issue is that gross-margin gains never reach PAT. Gross margin rose from 32.7% (FY23) to 38.7% (FY26), but PAT margin has stayed at 2.5–2.8%. D&A went from ₹32 Cr to ₹80 Cr after ~₹520 Cr of capex from FY22 to FY26. RoE has been 8–9% for four years, below a 12–13% cost of equity. Cumulative FCF over five years is ₹54 Cr, all of it in FY25–FY26. The bull case depends on operating leverage. Management says existing assets can support ₹2,500–3,000 Cr of revenue (1.6–1.9x FY26), and each 1 pp of PAT margin adds ~₹4.9 of EPS.
Management delivers on the balance sheet and over-promises elsewhere. Exports were guided at "+50%" for FY26 and grew 3.7% (₹167 Cr). The three-year export target was cut from 25% of revenue to ~15%. IKEA's start has slipped across six guided windows and is now Q2 FY27. FY26 PAT was guided ">₹50 Cr" and came in at ₹42 Cr. Store additions were guided at 90–100 and came in at 67, and capex at ≤₹25–40 Cr came in at ₹111 Cr gross. After the windfall, the targets went up: from "protect 11%" EBITDA in May to "14–15% in 2–3 years" plus a 7% PAT "endeavour" in August.
Governance needs watching, but is not a stress case. Ex-TTK MD Chandru Kalro joined as Vice Chair on a ₹2 Cr/yr retainer plus FY29/FY31 milestone incentives. That is 1.26x the MD's pay, and ~14.4% of non-promoter votes went against it. Five CXOs left in about three years, including two CFOs. The promoter pledge is 29.0 lakh shares, equal to 15.70% of promoter holding or 8.76% of total equity (30 Sep 2026 SHP). It secures a ₹50 Cr Bajaj Finance loan taken to buy Sequoia's last block in 2022, and it was topped up in Mar 2026, but at CMP it is covered ~4.9x [Est.]. PwC carries an Emphasis of Matter on the Nov-2023 Income Tax search. There are ₹17.1 Cr of disputed dues (₹12.6 Cr customs), and a new China WOS and JV with a ₹30 Cr SBLC.
What the price assumes. At 57.9x TTM P/E and 5.6x book, the stock trades at a 66% P/E premium to TTK (34.8x) and 89% to Hawkins (30.7x), despite lower RoE than both. It is above the street mean target (₹815). Only Emkay (₹1,000, 30x Jun-28E EPS) implies upside. FPIs went from 1.22% to 4.03% after an Emkay Singapore NDR, while domestic small-cap MFs have sold for four straight quarters (6.55%→4.92%). The market is pricing induction as structural and the margin path as given.
What would change our view. (1) Q2 FY27 ex-induction growth of at least 15% against a ₹474.4 Cr base. (2) First IKEA revenue. (3) Other expenses back toward ~15% of sales without ECL help. (4) A pledge release. (5) Working capital back below 30 days. This is a better business than in 2024, priced as if the bull case has already played out. We are Neutral.

Processes and technology
- Cookers and cookware: aluminium and stainless circles are blanked, deep-drawn and spun, then hard-anodised and PTFE- or ceramic-coated. Cast iron comes from the in-house foundry (commissioned FY25, ₹40 Cr). Gaskets and handles are moulded in-house, and glass lids are indigenised. Triply circles are bought in today; the China JV is to make them from Dec 2026.
- ICT and small appliances: injection moulding, sheet metal, coil winding, motor assembly, PCB population (now components only, no finished PCBs), assembly and test.
- Gas cooktops and chimneys: stainless fabrication, bought toughened glass, brass burners, BLDC motors.
- R&D: 18 people, plus unnamed foreign technology tie-ups; a China sourcing/QA team. R&D spend is not disclosed.
- Job work: the Q1 FY27 ICT surge pushed some output to outsourced makers, adding ~1.2 pts of sales to other expenses. Management says this is "not a continuing cost". It contradicts the "not dependent on third party" claim.

- Fastest grower — ICT: +23.9% in FY26, +89.4% in Q4 FY26, +315.9% in Q1 FY27. ICT added ~₹99 Cr of the ₹140.5 Cr YoY increase (~70%) [Est.]. Management expects ICT at "20%+" of FY27 revenue and "2x" FY26.

Supply Chain
↑ Upstream — What Stove Kraft Depends On
| Input | Used in | Source / risk |
|---|---|---|
| Aluminium (sheet, circles, ingot) | Cookers, non-stick, hard-anodised | Domestic and imported; ICRA "primary raw material"; LME ~US$3,500/t in 2026 (multi-year high) |
| Stainless steel; triply circles | Stainless cookers, triply, cooktops | Triply imported mainly from China; JV to bring in-house |
| Pig iron / scrap | Cast iron | Feeds in-house foundry |
| Electronics (IGBTs, MCUs, PCB parts, sensors) | ICT, appliances, chimneys | Mostly China; Mar-2026 ET: "imported component shortage looms" — the binding constraint |
| Motors/BLDC, heating elements, coils | Mixers, fans, chimneys, kettles | Partly in-house, partly imported |
| Plastics (PP, ABS, PC) | Housings | Domestic petrochemicals |
| Toughened glass | Glass cooktops | Purchased (lids in-house); glass tops not made in India |
| PTFE / ceramic sol-gel coatings | Cookware | Specialty suppliers, unnamed; IKEA is ceramic |
| Packaging | All | CPCB EPR registered |
| Dependency | Data |
|---|---|
| Material cost | 61.3% of FY26 revenue; traded goods ₹74.6 Cr (4.6%) vs ₹113.8 Cr (8.9%) FY23 |
| Imported share of inputs | ~30% (MD, Aug 2025), down from 40–45%; ~33–35% of induction content imported (street) |
| China share | ~50% of raw-material imports (EquityEdge); "We import a lot of our inputs from China" (Q1 FY27); B&D 100% imported CBU |
| Domestic local sourcing | 12% from MSMEs/small producers; 29% from home and neighbouring districts (FY23 BRSR) |
| Named suppliers | Only Ningbo Wochi (JV partner); large suppliers on quarterly pricing |
| Supplier concentration | Not disclosed; payables ₹358.7 Cr + supplier credit ₹55.1 Cr, ~129–140 days — suppliers fund WC |
| FX | Rupee toward ~₹94/US$; FY26 net FX loss ₹8.4 Cr (₹13.8 Cr gross per bridge); USD receivables vs CNY payables; no disclosed hedge policy |
Pass-through: "purely cost-plus", with a lag of about one quarter; price hikes ~10% (Mar–Apr 2026) and more by Q1 FY27; export buyers raised purchase prices. ICRA notes an asymmetry: as a value brand, Pigeon passes cost reductions to consumers, and TTK, Hawkins and Butterfly limit pricing flexibility. Gross margin rose from 32.7% to 39.6% despite aluminium near cycle highs. Single-source risks: triply via one JV partner (agreement unsigned as of Aug 2026); ICT electronics concentrated in China. China dependence is being deepened through ownership (WOS + JV), not reduced.
↓ Downstream — Who Depends On Stove Kraft
| Customer group | Share | Terms / stickiness |
|---|---|---|
| Indian households via e-commerce (Amazon/Flipkart implied; quick commerce from FY26) | ~32–34% | No contracts; platform controls visibility and discounts — the largest single counterparty exposure |
| General trade | ~29–32% | 600+ distributors, 9 C&F agents, ~82,767 outlets, 27 states + 5 UTs (FY23) |
| Modern retail | ~11–13% | National chains, unnamed |
| Own/franchise stores | 8.7–9% | 3-year auto-renew leases with 3-month exit; franchise ~55–56% of retail sales at ~1% commission; ~₹15 L refundable deposit + ₹2 L fee |
| OEM exports (Walmart US/Mexico, UK retailer, IKEA) | 9–15% | FOB; "all tariffs paid by the customer"; annual line reviews typical |
| Corporate/institutional | ~3–4% | Gifting, loyalty |
| Commercial kitchens | New | Egnite/Enduro commercial ICT |
Top-5/top-10 customer shares are not disclosed. No single export customer can exceed ~10–15% of revenue. Walmart is likely the largest export account; "one of our largest customers" committed to 3x imports from India (Aug 2025). Receivable days ~25–28. In OEM, the output becomes retailer private-label SKUs.

Porter's Five Forces
| Force | Intensity | Rationale |
|---|---|---|
| Rivalry | High | Many brands, marketplace discounting, 1,000+ influencers, marketing +1.2 pts of sales in Q1 FY27; ICRA: competition "constrains pricing flexibility" |
| Buyer power | Medium–High | E-com 31.8%; Walmart/IKEA powerful; price-sensitive consumers |
| Supplier power | Medium | LME commodities; China electronics shortage in Mar 2026 |
| Substitutes | Low–Medium | Electric vs LPG/PNG; induction cannibalises gas cooktops; air fryers vs cookware |
| New entrants | Medium | Easy in assembly categories; BIS protects cookers; star labelling raises the bar |
Structure: semi-consolidated at the top, fragmented underneath. Pressure cookers are a near-oligopoly (Hawkins, Prestige, Pigeon); small appliances and induction are fragmented and import-assembled. Moat: narrow, moderately durable. Sources: lowest-cost integration, South brand equity, exclusive retail, validated OEM credentials (Walmart since 2014, IKEA since 2024). Limits: value positioning, failed premium sub-brands (Gilma + B&D ~1% of sales; "Others" ₹77→₹20 Cr), 2.6% PAT margin, D&A of ₹79.5 Cr on ₹166 Cr EBITDA. TTK and Hawkins hold volumes through 5–8% hikes; Stove Kraft is cost-plus.
Strengths and weaknesses vs each peer
| vs | Stove Kraft stronger | Stove Kraft weaker |
|---|---|---|
| TTK Prestige | Faster Q1 growth (41% vs 34%; cookers +41% vs ~24%); higher GM trajectory; deeper integration; cheaper EV/EBITDA (16.2x vs 20.5x); ex-TTK MD on board | Half the revenue; cash ₹30.5 Cr vs ~₹862 Cr; PAT margin 2.6% vs 5.3%; 346 vs 709 stores (TTK targets ~1,000); weaker premium brand; higher P/E; Q1 margin helped by ECL |
| Hawkins | Broader portfolio (bigger ICT windfall); multi-channel; exports; larger revenue | RoE ~9% vs ~32%; EBITDA 10.3% vs 14.4%; PAT 2.6% vs 10.5%; Hawkins net cash, ~60% payout, real pricing power, half the P/E |
| Butterfly | Larger; faster (41% vs 14%); better EBITDA (10.3% vs 8.6%); more integrated; bigger exports | Butterfly net cash and Crompton backing; head-to-head in South; first 5-star cooktop; 21x vs 58x |
| Bajaj Electricals | Far better kitchen profitability; faster growth; focus | Bigger umbrella brands (Bajaj, Morphy Richards, Nirlep), distribution, ₹884 Cr cash; targets CP EBIT 6–7% then 10% |
| Wonderchef | ~3.8x revenue; owns manufacturing; profitable; listed and rated A | Celebrity premium, D2C-native; an IPO would add a funded rival |

Scenarios (12–18 months)
| Case | Anchor | Price (₹) | vs CMP | Assumes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bull | Emkay 30x Jun-28E (~₹33 EPS implied) [Est.] | 1,000 | +17.5% | Induction structural; EBITDA to ~13%; IKEA ramps |
| Base | Street mean [Analyst View] | ~815 | −4% | ICT moderates, ex-ICT ~14%, EBITDA ~11% |

Final Verdict
Overall: Neutral.
Bull case
- Induction is a lasting shift from LPG to electric cooking; Stove Kraft is the integrated low-cost maker with 4–5 mn units of run-rate.
- Operating leverage: ₹2,500–3,000 Cr revenue on existing assets; each 1 pp of PAT margin ≈ ₹4.9 EPS; Emkay sees 52% EPS CAGR FY26–28E.
- Cleaner balance sheet (bank debt ~nil, ICRA A/A1), IKEA plus export rebound, and Kalro bringing a TTK playbook.
Bear case
- Ex-induction growth is ~13.6% and underlying EBITDA margin fell (10.2% vs 10.7%); the windfall is shared with peers.
- RoE has been 8–9% for four years, cumulative FCF is ₹54 Cr, debt-like obligations are ~₹193 Cr including SLB, and WC is already reversing (45 days).
- 57.9x P/E is above the street mean, management's guidance record is weak, MFs are selling, and governance carries overhangs (Kalro fee, CXO churn, pledge, EoM).
Base case (12–18m)
Q2 FY27 grows YoY against ₹474.4 Cr, but induction moderates sequentially. FY27 revenue grows ~18–20% with EBITDA margin ~11%. IKEA starts small. The stock trades around the ₹800–1,000 street band with high volatility around each print. A rerating needs ex-ICT growth ≥15% and ex-ECL margin expansion.5 things to remember
- Q1 FY27 adjusted: revenue ex-ICT +13.6%; EBITDA ₹48.9 Cr (10.2%); PAT ~+22%.
- Debt ladder: company ₹27.1 Cr; ICRA ₹117 Cr; incl. SLB ~₹193 Cr gross / ~₹163 Cr net.
- Gross margin 32.7%→39.6%; PAT margin stuck at 2.5–2.8%; RoE 8.6%.
- Pledge 29.0 lakh shares = 15.70% of promoter / 8.76% of equity; ₹50 Cr Bajaj Finance; ~4.9x cover.
- Valuation 57.9x P/E, 5.6x P/B, 16.2x EV/EBITDA; mean TP ₹815.
5 questions to ask before investing
- What is the monthly induction run-rate since July, and how much channel inventory is there?
- What are the SLB counterparty, assets and schedule, and what are the Kalro milestone terms?
- When will IKEA actually bill, and at what margin?
- Why are other expenses at 18% of sales, and how much is truly non-recurring?
- When will the promoter release the pledge, and what is the China JV's total capital commitment?
